Maverick's Mission to Serve

Nurturing Hope. Cultivating Change.

Why We Do What We Do
The Reality:
According to recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI):
-
Approximately 16.5% (1 in 6) of U.S. youth aged 6–17 experience a mental health disorder each year.
-
50% of all lifetime mental health conditions begin by age 14, and 75% begin by age 24.
-
33.3% of high school students report persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness, with rates significantly higher among female students (43.4%) than male students (23.9%).
-
14% of high school students report seriously considering suicide, 12% have made a plan, and 6% have attempted suicide in the past year.
There are unmet needs and barriers to care.
-
Nearly 29% of high school students experiencing persistent sadness report an unmet need for counseling, while over 41% report no recognized pathway or access to care.
-
Historically, only about half (50.6%) of youth with a diagnosed mental health condition receive formal treatment each year.
-
Students with unaddressed mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges are more than twice as likely to repeat a grade or drop out of high school compared to their peers.

We're Taking Action.
-
We are actively establishing partnerships to connect families with verified local counseling and mental health services, both traditional and experiential.
-
We are building hands-on support pathways to help parents and youth navigate administrative, financial, and access barriers to care.
-
We are expanding our network with local schools, healthcare providers, and community leaders to create a comprehensive safety net for children.
